How we verbally approach people can and does influence how they respond to us. Although we may speak assertively, if our body language does not reflect that position then the message can become confused. Body language can help to determine whether the deliverer of the message is being assertive, dominant or aggressive, or passive.

Working within the counselling setting we look at interrelationships. How you as a person present yourself. You will learn to understand:

  • assertiveness and body language
  • what threatens others
  • coping with defensive behaviours and others
  • managing your own defensive mode
  • finding your hot buttons
  • learning to freeze your behaviour
  • changing your behaviour
  • language of closure
  • deceptive body language
  • cues to emotion
